WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO?
Desi Finesse is a Fashion and Lifestyle label born in Pink
city Jaipur and is born out of our immense love for Art,
Craft, Technique and Fashion. Desi Finesse – the name is
made up of two words ‘DESI’ which indicates a pool of
Indian indigenous cultures and techniques beautifully
contemporized and ‘FINESSE’ indicates the delicacy and
skill we impart to each of our products.
Desi Finesse designs innovate upon traditional techniques
and skills in pursuit of defining a novel aesthetic
vocabulary of modernized and composite fashion. Our
every piece is handmade and hand crafted and is original!
Hence we stick to our favourite hashtag which is
#allstufforiginal.
We believe in eco friendly and sustainable fashion hence
we use Organic Finest hand woven natural fabrics, colors
and natural dyes for all of our creations.
STORY BEHIND THE LABEL
The logo holds a personal connection to the brand indicating
true organic life with the logo bring picked from a festival
canvas made by our grandmother, “Desi Finesse” written in our
father’s handwriting.
The label represents the brand and conveys everything that we
are today. Our true identity is held in the ethnicity of making the
garments by being truly organic and saving the environment.
We have taken up multiple roles in developing this brand,
starting from experimentation with various crafts to product
development.
With our skill set for designing, a small amount of investment
and a burning desire in our heart we started taking part in
various exhibitions happening in the Pink city, Jaipur and
eventually all over India.
While innovating and moving forward, we have now become
designers and manufacturers for brands that are very popularly
known.
At Desi Finesse we stand tall and take a step towards becoming
a Fashion and Lifestyle retail label by designing and
manufacturing for ourselves in a completely novel way.
The Founder
I am Anjul Srivastava, a N.I.F.T Delhi graduate and a fashion and craft enthusiast. I have been playing with colours, paper, fabric, waste materials since I can remember and would love to create something new from something old, torn or worn out.
I started designing blouses for my mom, sister and myself, I started decorating my home for all the occasions, I would help my friends, cousins and family with their craft projects and wedding and festival garments. I would engross myself and feel utter happiness being engaged in such creative activities. I knew designing was my calling but coming from a very academic family of engineers and professors ,I was asked to opt for engineering but very soon my family realised I would be a far better and a happy designer than a failed and disappointed engineer.
My professional life started with me interning for Adiya Birla, followed by working with Art India and a startup called Calypso. Deep down I always wanted to have something of my own, working in a startup gave me courage to follow my long cherished dream of having a label of my own. To sum it up, Desi Finesse is my labour of love waiting to expand its wings far and wide and explore and reach its utmost potential.
